The Rascal Wedge
The Rascal Wedge
Always accessible, whether in your helmet or in a pocket with a lanyard.
Designed with ridges on the top and bottom faces to capture progress.
Gap the door with your Halligan then hold the progress with the Rascal Wedge. When it's about as deep as the spanner opening, that marks when you have enough space for the fork on your Halligan.
Instead of wrapping around the fitting, a brand new design "grips" the lugs of common 1-3/4" handline/appliance/adapter couplings to help give that extra twist to stop a leak or quickly add a length of hose to your attack line.
Openings in the wedge allow you to turn the following 5 valve options:
1. Residential gas shutoff
2. Appliance gas shutoff
3. Standpipe valves (with missing handle)
4. Oxygen valves
5. Ball valves (with missing handle)
The Rascal Wedge Beginings
O'Toole Equipment Company started as a husband-and-wife team, each with family roots in the fire service that run back for generations. Greg and Jess started the company together with three big goals in mind:
*Bring the fire service a brand new, supremely useful invention: The Rascal Wedge
*Keep our manufacturing in the USA, signaling the pride we have in the American workforce
*Run the business as a family company that puts first things first (Prov 3:6)
Why?
The guiding principle behind the design of the Rascal Wedge was a simple question. A thought that came during a routine forcible entry drill.
What if we could improve upon the tried-and-true wooden door chock in your helmet with a device that was roughly the same size and weight but added functionality?
What?
By doing so we could achieve the following:
*Easily accessible with gloved hands
*Functional enough to replace other tools
*Always at the ready to solve a problem
Done!
We dove in and the Rascal Wedge was born. It's a lightweight aluminum wedge with multiple openings to make it useful on the fireground. Made and designed by a Firefighter family in the USA!
